Downtown 岩石弹簧 has an award-winning Main Street for many reasons – one being the vibrant public art found around town. Larger than life murals, commissioned by the 岩石弹簧 Main Street/Urban Renewal Agency, are inspired by the Southwestern Wyoming landscapes and wildlife, and the history of Sweetwater County. Next time you’re passing through, make sure to get a glimpse of these ten works of art and counting.

1.  'Big Country’ by Valerie Doshier

Rock Spring’s first mural was created back in 2014 by artist Valerie Doshier. 标题为“大国”,” the mural reflects the high-desert landscape found in and around Sweetwater County. Those who spot this mural may recognize iconic geographical landmarks including the Killpecker Sand Dunes and 野猪牙. Wild horses and a steam engine are also depicted in the 126-by-24-foot mural.

Featuring the artist’s four-year-old son and abstract paint splashes on a 30-by-30-foot wall, “Ambition Within” by ARCY represents the freedom and opportunities available to the nation’s future generations.

“Pronghorn” is a work of art featuring wildlife native to the area including a coyote, 蛇, 兔子和鸟. Painted by Wyoming-based artist Dan Toro, the mural represents a vision of community where each animal has its own role in relation to the others.

Painted across two adjacent walls, “Plateau” depicts a flying raptor and ARCY’s signature paint splashes. The mural represents artists' perseverance in recognizing their goals and overcoming struggles like that of a bird of prey.

5.  ‘岩石弹簧’ by Jesse Stark

Welcoming both tourists and locals to downtown, “岩石弹簧” by Jesse Stark portrays the history of Sweetwater County. Each letter features different aspects of the community including the 岩石弹簧 Coal Welcome Arch and nearby rock formations. More than 20 youth volunteers helped complete the mural.

6.  'The Power of Coal’ by Dan Toro

8.  'Freedom’ by Chad Bolsinger

Incorporating Wyoming’s diverse wildlife and landscape, “Freedom” by Chad Bolsinger depicts a swirling scene of wild horses, 鸟类和岩层.

9.  Rose Klein的《中国博彩平台》

“Lioness” by Rose Klein celebrates the 150^th anniversary of women’s suffrage and features civil rights leaders such as Anna Julia Cooper and Ida B. 井. The mural represents the movement’s past successes as well as the ongoing fight for equality.

10.  'Spirit of the Wild’ by KEY DETAIL

While this mural isn’t located in 岩石弹簧, “Spirit of the Wild” by KEY DETAIL in 绿河 is worth the visit. The colorful work of art captures the spirit of the city’s railroading past, 以野马为特色, 石头城堡, a train and the city’s namesake river.
